I saw a question on another website from a woman asking why her boyfriend won't take her for a motorcycle ride when he goes out with his buddies.
There's a smaller reason that when guys go out riding, they want to burn up the roads, go fast, take their bikes hard into the corners. Having a passenger on the back makes the bike top-heavy, and not as nimble.
Not only that, but chicks tend to complain when you ride a motorcycle too fast.
But the bigger reason is that when guys go out riding, it's a male-bonding thing. Guys riding bikes together is like a pack, a sense of brotherhood, all for one, one for all kind of thing. Having your significant other there with you tends to ruin the feeling.
When a girlfriend or wife is riding along, the other guys tend to be on their best, or better, behavior. They feel like they can't let out those really raunchy jokes, or make comments about that cute chick walking by. When a group of guys go out on their bikes, they want to let loose and be totally disgusting.
Just because a guy is married, or has a steady girlfriend doesn't mean he has to let go of his masculinity. What often causes men to become frustrated with their relationships is that they feel tied down and unable to go out running with the pack.
There's a time when guys do want to take their women for a ride. It's usually on more formal rides and events, like poker runs, rallies, and bike nights, or when he wants to spend time alone with his gal.
Took my wife for a ride a few weeks back... About two miles out she started slapping me... I pulled over & asked WTF???
ReplyDeleteShe said, "I just figured out why you like riding with me..."
I said, "Oh, What do ya think?"
She said, "I've been talking to you ever since we left, Have you heard a single word?"...
Well, I can't deny her when she's right...
Roll On, Brother
I was under the impression the (wife) stayed home because the (girlfriend) went along instead!`
ReplyDeleteThey have seperate days for us to go. Usually tell the wives its a guy thing .
Deletef u !catch a bitch on my riderseat they both will have some problems making it home and it be hers! theres just some things you just dont do and thats cross territory and ride a riders seat thats claimed My Moral Rule is " Stay the F*ck off my ride Bi%ches or get some Stitches!! Got IT!
DeleteWell my biker has a wife..... & that's me, & no other ass rides on my biker's saddle but me!!!
DeleteI appreciate reading your story and comments. I love to ride as much as the bf does. It was harsh reality for me to grasp and know that his club comes first in front of everything else on earth. If I knew the right words to say or the things to do to be able to spend as much time with him as he does his club, I would do it. I guess I feel like I should come first because I was here about 3 years before the club. He didn't talk to me about it, he simply went and joined. Needless to say, I cannot be very objective about "clubs". He's turned into a monster with an attitude.
ReplyDeleteCome up with aperverted joke and tell it to him. See wat he does. Here is one. Ask him how does a guy recharge? When he asks how tell him that they plug in to a woman. That is how I got my guy.
DeleteThat's not really a club thing. That's just a relationship thing. I'm a club rider, but I always tell the guys that my wife is my #1 riding partner, and always will be. She also rides her own bike. They kid me about my habit of following on my bike when she rides, always about 10 feet off her shoulder. I tell them - you won't raise my kids or sleep with me if she goes down. I'll stay right here and keep her safe. Priorities are priorities. Sounds like your significant other does not have his straight.
DeleteYou know I have to agree with the "monster with an attitude" It is amazing the "brotherhood" above all. Dont get me wrong I understand but sometimes I think it is a little overboard. The local club here in this area broke up not long ago and old habits are sure hard to break, they still stand together which to me is nice since now they "dont have to" they want to. They have never treated me bad in fact (since I was not a member, nor was my husband) they treated me with more respect than any of the others which was nice for me since I am on a pedastal but sad for the other gals as they are still treated like shit!
ReplyDeleteI agree with the post, i have yet to ride with my partner, and am more than happy to let him do his thing with the guys, but it is nice to see this written down in a way that doesn't come across as arrogant..
ReplyDeleteand i have to say, even as a woman, i did chuckle at Camron's comment :D
ok ladies i really need your help, i started dating a independent biker almost a year ago and i am new to the biker lifestyle, so far i have messed up something bad ...... i learned that a bikers ol lady should never ride with another biker man .... please let me know what other rules tips i need to follow
ReplyDeleteI disagree with many things. Not all men are raunchy. Further, because i live in Milwaukee home of Harley D., most guys have bikes and those i start dating want me to go on theirs. I dislike them and not sure why they plead i go on. It's not happening.
ReplyDeleteI'm a harley owner and have been riding motorcycles for 10+ years...Imma chick and all you 'biker men' are mostly big jokes....I go out riding with the guys all the time..they love having me along and have to try to keep up with me. Harleygirl
