Here's a quote from the article...
The female motorcycle club member is as non-existent in the black motorcycle community as the black motorcycle club is non-existent in the motorcycle world. It is a phantom existence: there but unseen. Voided.Check it out...

I posted this yesterday on Digg. I am not sure if you picked it from there. If you want to learn more about black bikers, black motorcycle clubs & women riders in black motorcycle clubs check out my blog, http://goldie1779.wordpress.com

It was very interesting, but like it or not all that sophisticated analysis can be broken down into the simple statement "it is what it is."
ReplyDeleteI'm sort of tired of the trend our culture has fallen into where absolutely everything and everyone has to be politically correct, equal, and all-inclusive. No matter what the far left tries to sell, we are all very different in our own ways and no amount of propaganda or whining is ever going to change that. Try to rationalize that a Chess Club has every right to insist that when they meet that the game that gets played is...well...CHESS!! Leave it to our society to produce some jackass who'll file a lawsuit and say he's being discriminated against because he wants to play Checkers instead.
We've had the same problem in HOG with people saying it's not fair they can't be a member if all they own is a non-Harley. Sorry, but HOG stands for HARLEY Owner's Group, not Honda owner's group, or BMW, or anything else.
She says that outlaw clubs are "white clubs" basically by default. She talks about Black Motorcycle Clubs. For me, I'd prefer to simply use the name of the M/C as designated on the patch, rather than classify it by racial distinctions.
Years ago here in the Boston area, a local TV affiliate actually had the balls to put a program on Saturday mornings called "Black News." I remember thinking, "What the hell is this crap...there isn't any 'white' news?" That show is still on to this day, but was long ago re-named with the more euphemistic title of "Urban Update."
I say the more we keep pointing out and labeling things as either male or female or black or white, the more we create the separation most of us claim to want to see go away. Like I said, "it is what it is."
I say less analysis and more riding.
i like that Joker, "less analysis and more riding". :O)
